This Privacy Policy is used to inform visitors and users regarding our policies with regard to the collection, use, and disclosure of personally identifiable information such as your name, e-mail address, shipping address, phone number, credit card information and other data, whether true or not, that identifies you as an individual (“Personal Data”); and governs the usage of our Platform which comprises of https://8whiskers.com and its related sub-domains, social media pages and any related applications (including mobile applications) and includes their respective internet-based services, features, content, and functionality (the “Services”).
By using the Platform, accepting the Terms of Use, and/or making any use of the Services through the Platform, you shall agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to this Privacy Policy, you must not use the Platform. The terms "we," "us," "our," refer to 8WHISKERS (UEN No. 53428060M), our affiliates, and organisations which we have engaged to collect, use, disclose or process Personal Data for our purposes (“Third-Party Service Providers”).
We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 of Singapore (“PDPA”). Consequently, we will only collect, record, hold, store, disclose, transfer and use your Personal Data as outlined in this Privacy Policy.
1. What Information Do We Collect?
1.1 We may collect and process the following information from you:
(a) Personal Data (such as your name, residential address, e-mail address, telephone number, nationality, gender, date of birth, marital status, employment information, financial information and other personal information) that you provide by completing forms on the Platform, including if you register as a user of the Platform, receive our newsletter, upload or submit any material via the Platform, request any information or enter into any promotion we provide;
(b) in connection with your account, your log-in and password details;
(c) details of any transactions made by you through the Platform;
(d) usage of the features, functions and tools available on our Platform, for example, by creating listings and credentials, interacting with other users through the Platform’s chat feature, or transacting with other users;
(e) communications you send to us, for example to report a problem or to submit queries, concerns or comments regarding the Platform and its content;
(f) information from surveys, promotions and competitions that we may, from time to time, run on the Platform, if you choose to respond to, or participate in them;
(g) details of your visits to the Platform, the resources you access and any data you download;
(h) technical information from your communications device relating to the Services you receive;
(i) information that you post in the form of comments or contributions to discussions;
(j) information that does not identify you.
1.2 You are under no obligation to provide the information to us. However, if you choose to withhold the information or to revoke permission for us to receive the information, we may be unable to provide certain aspects of our Services to you.
Third Parties
1.3 By providing us with any information relating to a third party (e.g. information of your spouse, children, parents, customers and/or employees), you represent to us that you have obtained the consent of the third party to provide us with their information, and have ensured that the third party is aware of, understands and accepts the terms of this Privacy Policy for the respective purposes.
Other Data
1.4 Please be informed that whenever you use our Services, data may be gathered through tracking of your online Service usage. For example, we may capture the IP address of the device you use to connect to the online service, the type of operating system and browser you use, and information about the Platform you came from, the parts of our online service you access, and the Platform you visit next. We and/or our Third-Party Service Providers may also use cookies, web beacons or other technologies to collect and store other information about your visit to, or use of, the Services. In addition, we may later associate the usage and other information we collect online with Personal Data about you. In case of an error in the Platform, we may collect data and information (through third party products) on your phone called Log Data. Legal Age
1.5 For users below the age of 18, written parental or guardian consent is mandatory for purposes of setting up an account with us or for using the Platform and the Services. This is due to the need for compliance with applicable laws and/or to process financial transactions through the Platform. Any users under the age of 18 who use the Platform or the Services without the necessary parental or guardian consent are not protected by our Terms of Use and neither We nor our affiliates, agents, employees or servants shall be liable or held responsible for the actions of such underage users.
1.6 The parents and guardians of users aged below the age of 18 can access the Personal Data of their child/ward and/or request that it be deleted. If parents/guardians find any unsuitable usage by your child/ward and wish to request termination of the account; or wish to access the Personal Data of their child/ward and/or request that it be deleted, you may submit your request in writing or via email to our Data Protection Officer at the contact details provided below.
2. Your Interactions With Others
2.1 The Platform offers features which allow users to connect and communicate with us, Third-Party Service Providers and/or with each other to complete transactions and to provide feedback or comments on the same. Please use common sense and exercise good judgment when sharing information.
2.2 We generally do not monitor or remove comments which you share in the comments section and such comments may remain available on our Platform after your account has been deactivated, terminated or is otherwise closed. You are responsible for the information you choose to share on the Platform.
3. How Do We Store Your Information?
3.1 The Platform uses third-party service providers such as Amazon AWS Cloud services, Payment services, Google Firebase etc., therefore your information may be transferred to and stored on servers in various locations both in and outside of Singapore. To safeguard your Personal Data from unauthorised access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, disposal or similar risks, we have introduced appropriate administrative, physical and technical measures such as minimised collection of Personal Data, authentication and access controls (such as good password practices, need-to-basis for data disclosure, etc.), up-to-date antivirus protection, regular patching of operating system and other software, web security measures against risks, and security review and testing performed regularly.
3.2 You should be aware, however, that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. While security cannot be guaranteed, we strive to protect the security of your information and are constantly reviewing and enhancing our information security measures.
4. How Do We Use Your Information?
4.1 We may use the Personal Data and information collected and received from you for the following purposes:
(a) Onboard and process your request for Services;
(b) Verify your identity, update our records and generally maintain your account with us;
(c) Assess and determine if you are a suitable owner of our pets;
(d) Provide the Services and customise the content shown to you;
(e) Develop, operate, improve, deliver and maintain the Services;
(f) Perform obligations in the course of or in connection with our provision of the Services requested by you;
(g) Processing payment or credit transactions;
(h) Respond to, handle, and process your queries, requests, applications, complaints, feedback, and to communicate with you and to resolve complaints;
(i) Carry out polls, surveys, analysis and research on how the Services are being used and how we can improve them;
(j) Update you on the Services (e.g. changes to the Services, new offers, new chats, new feedback, new comments). These updates will be sent by email and/or through push notifications and you may choose to unsubscribe from some of these updates at any time;
(k) Send you marketing and/or promotional materials on the latest Services and tools offered or provided by us or by carefully selected Third-Party Service Providers. These updates will be sent by email and/or through push notifications and you can choose to unsubscribe from these updates;
(l) Send you service-related messages including, without limitation, a welcome/confirmation email when you register your account and to enforce our Terms of Use and other policies, applicable legal requirements, relevant industry standards and contractual obligations. These messages are not promotional in nature. These messages will be sent by email and/or through push notifications and you may not opt-out of receiving service-related messages from us, unless you deactivate your account;
(m) Comply with any applicable laws, regulations, codes of practice, guidelines, or rules, or to assist in law enforcement and investigations conducted by any governmental and/or regulatory authority;
(n) Transmit to Third-Party Service Providers, affiliates and agents, and relevant governmental and/or regulatory authorities, whether in Singapore or abroad, for the aforementioned purposes;
(o) For any other purposes for which you have provided the information; and
(p) For any other incidental business purposes related to or in connection with the above.
5. Sharing Your Information
5.1 We may share information about you in the following ways and purposes:
(a) Your Personal Data is made available to participating financial institutions for payment for Services;
(b) We may share the information with our employees, affiliates and relevant Third-Party Service Providers who assist us in performing certain aspects of the Services on our behalf, such as processing transactions, processing of payment for Services, fulfilling requests for information, receiving and sending communications, updating marketing lists, analysing data, providing support services or in other tasks. Such service providers will only have access to your Personal Data to the extent necessary to perform their functions;
(c) We may share the information with our potential partners, investors and other parties with a view to a potential business partnership, collaboration, joint venture or otherwise in furtherance of our business; and

6. Links to Third Party Websites
We may provide links to websites that are owned or operated by other companies ("Third-Party Websites"). When you use a link online to visit a Third-Party Website, you will be subject to that website’s privacy and security practices, which may differ from ours. You should familiarize yourself with the privacy policy, terms of use and security practices of the linked Third-Party Websites before providing any information on that website.
7. Tracking Technologies
7.1 The Platform uses tracking technologies in the provision of our Services. These enable us to understand how you use our Services which, in turn, helps us to provide and improve them. However, the tracking technologies do not access, receive or collect information which can be used to identify you. Below are some examples of the tracking technologies used on our Services:
(a) Cookies. A cookie is a small data file sent from a website to your browser that is stored on your device. Cookies are used for a number of purposes, including to display the most appropriate content based on your interests and activity on our Services, estimate and report our Services’ total audience size and traffic, and conduct research to improve our Services. 8. Accessing And Updating/Correcting Your Information
8.1 You can update your information through your account profile settings. If you believe that Personal Data we hold about you is incorrect, incomplete or inaccurate, you may request us to amend it.
8.2 Additionally, you may request access to any Personal Data that we hold about you at any time by submitting your request in writing or via email to our Data Protection Officer at the contact details provided below. Where we hold information that you are entitled to access, we will try to provide you with suitable means of accessing it (for example, by mailing or emailing it to you). We may charge you a fee to cover our administrative and other reasonable costs in providing the information to you. If so, we will inform you of the fee before processing your request.
8.3 We will respond to your request as soon as reasonably possible. In general, our response will be within seven (7) business days. Should we not be able to respond to your request within thirty (30) days after receiving your request, we will inform you in writing within thirty (30) days of the time by which we will be able to respond to your request. If we are unable to provide you with any Personal Data or to make a correction requested by you, we shall generally inform you of the reasons why we are unable to do so (except where we are not required to do so under the PDPA).
8.4 There may be instances where we cannot grant you access to the Personal Data that we hold. For example, we may need to refuse access if granting access would interfere with the privacy of others or if it would result in a breach of confidentiality. If that happens, we will give you written reasons for any refusal.
9. Accuracy of Personal Data
We generally rely on Personal Data provided by you (or your authorised representative). In order to ensure that your Personal Data is current, complete and accurate, please update us if there are changes to your Personal Data by informing our Data Protection Officer in writing or via email at the contact details provided below.
10. Retention of Personal Data
10.1 We may retain your Personal Data for as long as it is necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected, or as required or permitted by applicable laws.
10.2 We will cease to retain your Personal Data, or remove the means by which the data can be associated with you, as soon as it is reasonable to assume that such retention no longer serves the purpose for which the Personal Data was collected, and is no longer necessary for legal or business purposes.
11. Transfer of Personal Data Outside Singapore
By using the Services, you authorise us to use your information in Singapore and other countries where we operate for the purposes mentioned above. We will ensure that your information is transferred in accordance with this Privacy Policy and protected in accordance with applicable laws on personal data protection (including, but not limited to, the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 of Singapore).
12. Withdrawal of Consent & Lodging of Complaint
12.1 The consent that you provide for the collection, use and disclosure of your Personal Data will remain valid until such time it is being withdrawn by you in writing. You may withdraw consent and request us to stop collecting, using and/or disclosing your Personal Data for any or all of the purposes listed above by submitting your request in writing or via email to our Data Protection Officer at the contact details provided below.
12.2 Upon receipt of your written request to withdraw your consent, we may require reasonable time (depending on the complexity of the request and its impact on our relationship with you) for your request to be processed and for us to notify you of the consequences of us acceding to the same, including any legal consequences which may affect your rights and liabilities to us. In general, we shall seek to process your request within seven (7) business days of receiving it.
12.3 Whilst we respect your decision to withdraw your consent, please note that depending on the nature and scope of your request, we may not be in a position to continue providing our goods or services to you and we shall, in such circumstances, notify you before completing the processing of your request. Should you decide to cancel your withdrawal of consent, please inform us in writing in the manner described in clause 8 above.
12.4 Please note that withdrawing consent does not affect our right to continue to collect, use and disclose Personal Data where such collection, use and disclose without consent is permitted or required under applicable laws.
13. Visiting Our Platform From Outside Singapore
This Privacy Policy is intended to cover collection and use of information on our Platform within Singapore. If you are visiting our Platform from outside Singapore, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored and processed in Singapore where our servers are located and our central database is operated. The data protection and other laws of Singapore and other countries might not be as comprehensive as those in your country. Please be assured that we seek to take reasonable steps to ensure that your privacy is protected. By using our Services, you understand that your information may be transferred to our facilities and those third parties with whom we share it as described in this Privacy Policy.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation EU 2016/679) (also known as GDPR), if you are an individual protected by the GDPR you may have certain rights as a data subject.
